Common Questions
Practical guidance for homeowners, business owners, and custodians of historic buildings planning repair, renovation, or conservation work.
If you live in a conservation area, or in a building that has its own listing, Listed Building Consent will be needed if you intend to change or alter the character of your building in any way. Emergency repairs are exempt for short-term interventions, but consent will likely still be required. In addition, removing plaster greater than 30% of a wall surface usually requires Building Control to ensure suitable thermal upgrade options are considered.
